Scope note
Refers to modern prints produced by the carborundum mezzotint process, developed in the 20th century and by which mezzotint-like tone is achieved by roughening the surface of the plate with abrasives. Such prints will have the general quality of a mezzotint but will not show in the lighter areas the straight lines of the rocker's serrated edge.
